In mid-December 2025, following a hectic year of live shows, the band decamped to producer Macks Faulkron’s REX Studio, an artistic hub tucked away behind Highbury and Islington tube station, to record their sophomore EP, ‘backflip’. With the guidance of producer Macks, the release leans into each extreme of the band’s sound; distorted noise rock that effortlessly glides into vulnerable and evocative soundscapes. Released through rising indie label, Rex Recs, the release is set to propel thistle. even further into the centre of the UK alt-rock conversation. One of their most sonically ambitious offerings to date, backflip touches both ends of their sonic spectrum, experimenting with oscillating synths, brushing up against hushed vocals, rhythmic acoustic guitar and bursts of distorted noise.
